Fair Oaks Farm Visit

Join the Bureau County Farm Bureau for a day of fun and learning on August 1st, 2014 as we tour Fair Oaks Farms in Indiana, an agri-tourism destination. During the educational day you will experience the Dairy Adventure and the Pig Adventure all in one location as you ride their bus around the farm, play interactive games, watch an informative 3D/4D movie, and even witness the miracle of life at their birthing barns!

Seven students receive Farm Bureau Foundation scholarships and One Internship Awarded

Seven Bureau County students received financial assistance from the Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation to help cover costs associated with continuing their education. The Foundation Board of Directors has named Mark Bejster of Spring Valley, Laura Brummel of Sheffield, Anthony Lovegren of LaMoille, Kalie Rumbold of Wyanet, Taylor Smith of Princeton and Nicole Yaklich of Princeton as the 2014 recipients of the Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship. Sarah Schlund of Princeton was named the winners of the 2014 Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation Graduate Scholarship.

Bureau County Agriculture Service Award Winner Named

At this week's Beef and Ag Days in Princeton the Bureau County Farm Bureau, Bureau County Pork Producers Association and the Bureau County Cattleman's Association awarded the 2014 Bureau County Agricultural Service Award.

The purpose for this award, the Agricultural Service Award, is to provide an opportunity for Bureau County agricultural organizations and businesses to honor individuals who have given exemplary leadership and service to agriculture and farmers in Bureau County and beyond.

We are excited to announce the donation from Heartland Bank and Trust Company to the Bureau County Farm Bureau Young Leader Committee. The $250 will be used to support their county programs and activities for the program year. Thank you for your outstanding support!

Teachers Learn about Food and Technology

8 teachers from Bureau, Lee and Whiteside counties attended at Summer Agriculture Institute for teachers June 16 & 17, 2014. The focus of these two courses was to offer information and education about how our food is grown and labeled and to learn about current technology available to farmers. Teachers heard presentations from farmers and industry representatives and traveled on tours. Teachers who completed the class were eligible for CPDUs through the local Regional Office of Education.

Meet your Bureau County Farm Bureau Director- Rex Elmore

Rex Elmore has been a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau since 1975. He decided to join the Board of Directors after being asked to do so, as he felt it was a privilege to be able to serve. Rex believes the most beneficial aspect of being with the Farm Bureau is staying involved in policy development, with which he has stayed active through trips to Washington, D.C. and the IAA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
