Summer Ag Institute For Teachers

Applications are now available for this year’s Summer Agricultural Institute II, targeted to pre-school to high school educators who want to expand their curriculum to include topics related to agriculture. This year’s program will feature two separate sessions where class participants will learn about how to relate featured topics into their classroom lessons.  The dates for the Bureau, Lee and Whiteside County Summer Ag Institute II are June 14 and June 15. READ MORE

 

Farm Bureau Foundation Golf Outing

Bureau and Lee County Farm Bureaus will be hosting their 7th Annual Golf Outing for supporters of Ag in the Classroom.   The outing will be held on Friday, June 24th at Timber Creek Golf Course in Dixon. The Tournament will be a shot-gun start, 4- person scramble. Tee time is 9 a.m. and lunch (provided by COUNTRY Financial®) will be served for all teams and sponsors present during the event. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Bureau and Lee County Ag in the Classroom program. READ MORE


Farm Bureau Foundation Tractor Trek

Save the Date!!!  The Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation is putting the final touches on plans for our fifth annual Tractor Trek. The Tractor Trek will be held on Saturday June 25, 2016, rain or shine! This year’s event is an effort to raise funds for the Ag in the Classroom Program. Participants will have the opportunity to share the exciting event with other antique tractor enthusiasts as they travel through the west central portion of Bureau County.  READ MORE

4th Grade Ag Fair Held

The 22nd annual 4th grade Ag Fair was held on March 17th at the Bureau County Fairgrounds.  This year the Ag Fair was attended by nearly 400 students and approximately 30 adults and teachers.  The classes were divided between morning and afternoon sessions.  The students visited 14 different sessions where they had a nine minute mini lesson on the agricultural industry.  READ MORE 


Placemat Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to our winners of the 2nd Annual Placemat Design Contest for the National Ag Week’s Salute to Ag Breakfast!  Third grade students from around the county were asked to create placemats following the theme “I Can’t Go A Day Without Agriculture”.  READ MORE

County Annual Meeting Held

Bureau County Farm Bureau hosted its 101st Annual Meeting on January 28, 2016. During the meeting, legislators and other special guests were introduced, members were elected to serve on the 2016 Bureau County Farm Bureau board and official business was approved.  Philip Nelson, past president of the Illinois Farm Bureau addressed the crowd.  READ MORE

William Anderson Competes in State YL Discussion Meet

Congratulations to Bureau County Young Leader member, William Anderson, as he qualified for the Sweet 16 Round in this year’s YL Discussion Meet. Illinois Farm Bureau’s state discussion meet was held December 5th at the Palmer House in Chicago as part of the Illinois Farm Bureau’s 101St Annual Meeting.  READ MORE

FOID Card Application Changes

*Due to the following change the Bureau County Farm Bureau will no longer be offering FOID card services.  We apologize for any inconvience.*

The Illinois State Police (ISP) announced on March 6, 2015, the agency will now be accepting on-line FOID applications, to provide a more streamlined modernized application process.  READ MORE


2015 Plat Books Available

The new 2015 Bureau County Land Atlas and Plat Book is nowavailable for purchase through the Bureau County Farm Bureau.  The new plat book is produced by Rockford Map Publishers, located in Rockford, IL.  This is the 19th edition of the Bureau County Plat Book produced by Rockford Map Publishers since the first edition in 1952.   READ MORE


Labor Pool Listing Offered

The Bureau County Farm Bureau Young Leaders Committee has wrapped up its farm labor pool application period.  This listing for Bureau County residents interested in full or part time agricultural related labor is has now been compiled.  The list is now available at the Farm Bureau Office in Princeton, and will be accessible to anyone who needs farm help.   READ MORE
