Ag in the Classroom Golf Outing
Bureau and Lee County Farm Bureaus will be hosting their 6th Annual Golf Outing for supporters of Ag in the Classroom. The outing will be held on Friday, June 26th at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Princeton. The Tournament will be a shot-gun start, 4- person scramble. Tee time is 9 a.m. and lunch (provided by COUNTRY Financial) will be served for all teams and sponsors during the event. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Bureau and Lee County Ag in the Classroom program. READ MORE
Farm Bureau Foundation Tractor Trek
Save the Date!!! The Bureau County Farm Bureau Foundation is putting the final touches on plans for our fourth annual Tractor Trek. The Tractor Trek will be held on Saturday June 20, 2015, rain or shine! This year’s event is an effort to raise funds for the Ag in the Classroom Program. READ MORE
Summer Ag Institute for Teachers
Applications are now available for this year’s Summer Agricultural Institute, targeted to pre-school to high school educators who want to expand their curriculum to include topics related to agriculture – the world’s food and fiber system. The program is offered at several locations around the state including Bureau County. This year’s dates for the session offered in Bureau County are June 15-19, 2015. READ MORE
Bureau County Ag Service Award Nomination Deadline
For the final year, the Bureau County Farm Bureau, Bureau County Cattleman’s Association and supporters of former Bureau County pork production are sponsoring the Agricultural Service Award. The purpose for this award, is to provide an opportunity for Bureau County agricultural organizations and businesses to honor individuals who have given exemplary leadership and service to agriculture and farmers in Bureau County and beyond. Fourth Annual Women in Agriculture Conference A Success
Over 200 women attended the Women in Agriculture CONFERENCE on March 20th at the Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island. Keynote speaker for the conference was Dr. David Kohl. Dr. Kohl was a Professor of Agricultural Finance and Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech for 25 years. READ MORE
2015 Ag Fair Held to Celebrate National Ag Month
The twenty-first annual 4th grade Ag Fair was held on March 26th at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. This year the Ag Fair was attended by more than 450 students and approximately 30 adults and teachers. The classes were divided between morning and afternoon sessions. The students visited 14 different sessions were they had a nine minute mini lesson on agriculture. READ MORE
Labor Pool Listing Offered
The Bureau County Farm Bureau Young Leaders Committee has wrapped up its farm labor pool application period. This listing for Bureau County residents interested in full or part time agricultural related labor is has now been compiled. The list is now available at the Farm Bureau Office in Princeton, and will be accessible to anyone who needs farm help. READ MORE
BCFB Recognized at IFB Annual Meeting
The Bureau County Farm Bureau was recognized for its achievements during the 100th annual meeting of the Illinois Farm Bureau held in Chicago December 6-9, 2014. The award was presented during the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in December and calls attention to the comprehensive nature of county Farm Bureau programs. READ MORE
