S.A.F.E (Surrounding Area Farm Emergency) Training Course Planned for Fire Departments & EMTs

Agriculture is the most dangerous industry. Each year unnecessary deaths and injuries affect farmers and their families, farm employees, and rescuers.  Emergency responders often lack knowledge of the nature of farm machinery and farm animals, chemicals, and farm structures.  For this reason the Bureau, Henry, and Stark County Farm Bureaus along with the Kewanee Fire Department will be sponsoring a course for fire, rescue, and EMS providers in Bureau, Henry, and Stark counties.

In cooperation with Illinois Farm Bureau, COUNTRY Financial, and the Illinois Fire Service Institute, this training session will be offered at the Kewanee Fire Department (401 East Third Street, Kewanee) on Saturday, August 19 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The course will involve an 8-hour combination of instruction and hands on incident training.

Rescue personnel will learn principles and guidelines for the safe response to Large Animal Rescue Emergencies and Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies.

Please register online at: www.fsi.illinois.edu  (CE Credits will be available for this course.)
