SUMMARY:Women in Ag Conference
DESCRIPTION:Carey Portell to Headline Women in Agriculture Conference \nThe Women in Agriculture Conference committee is excited for the 2023\, Women in Agriculture Conference. Carey Portell will headline for the annual Women in Agriculture Conference in Rock Island on Friday\, March 24\, 2023. Portell is a survivor and a thriver\, but most importantly she is a mom\, wife\, neighbor\, and friend. She and her husband oversee a farm in mid-Missouri where she balances between speaking and cattle farming. Portell strives to motivate and inspire audiences\, encouraging them to break through limitations\, learn to believe in oneself\, and tap into their higher power as a source of inspiration. Her message will teach attendees to thrive despite challenges and arrive with an attitude of gratitude on their path to success. \nThe keynote will be followed by a variety of breakout sessions as well a buffet lunch. \nClosing out the conference is Amanda Radke. She is a fifth-generation rancher from Mitchell\, S.D. who has dedicated her career to serving as a voice for the nation’s farmers and ranchers. Radke regularly tackles industry issues as a columnist and speaker.  Radke challenges listeners to change their outlook in the face of great uncertainties to PIVOT. CONNECT. SERVE and LEAD with positivity. \nRegistration for this event began January 9\, 2023. More details can be found at womeninagricultureconference.com. This Conference is sponsored by the Farm Bureau Women in Agriculture Conference Committee.

SUMMARY:Community Impact Grant Due
DESCRIPTION:Farm Bureau and COUNTRY recognize it takes a large amount of hard work and sweat equity to make a lasting impact in our community. For over 100 years\, the Bureau County Farm Bureau and its family of companies have offered programs and services in Bureau County to inform\, strengthen\, and develop the agricultural industry in our communities. \nWe continue that same mission today\, by investing time and resources to provide information and support to improve financial stability and quality of life for members. To help meet our mission\, we have created the Community Impact Grant Program\, to facilitate partnerships with local groups in Bureau County on projects that have an impact in our communities. \nThere are many great ideas for community-based projects which\, unfortunately\, do not become a reality due to funding support. The Community Impact Grant Program seeks to identify various projects that will improve our community and to create partnerships with groups and individuals to make those projects a reality. \nProposals will be accepted now through February 28. The submitting organization or individual must be based in Bureau County and have operations in the county. Examples of organizations include school groups\, civic organizations\, churches\, 4-H clubs\, food banks\, FFA chapters\, etc.  Projects that have a lasting\, multi-year impact will be favored over those with a short-term impact. \nThe awarded grant can be up to $5\,000 but amount awarded will be determined at the time of selection. Grant awards will be announced in late spring\, with project completion to occur by August 15. \nThis grant is provided through a partnership between Bureau County Farm Bureau and COUNTRY Financial representatives in Bureau County:  Jim Scruggs\, Crane Schafer\, Mike Morris\, Ron Behrends\, Tyler Hansen\, TJ Scruggs\, G.W. Leynaud and Dan Kniss. \nThe link to the grant application is https://form.jotform.com/223124343505041 \n
