Our Women’s Committee has numerous program areas it must monitor. This year the Committee completed 15 different programs and activities. The Women’s Committee facilitates the 4th grade Ag Fair mentioned earlier. The committee also performs health and safety programs for the organization, such as Stroke Detection Plus Screenings, and a blood drive and community services efforts such as a food pantry donation during Farm City Week in November, where they donated enough food to serve 155 people Thanksgiving dinner (the number of people the average farmer feeds each year). Timely safety reminders for farmers and their families are offered during the spring and fall too. In order to inform local children about agriculture, the women make an agriculture book donation to the 15 public libraries in the county each year. This committee has many active and supportive members who assist in the development of new programs and the follow through of our current ones.
